I use to hang out with Rudy when I was in school in 1989-1990- so much laughter and warmth. I am saddened by his passing, That was thirty years ago, but there are some people you never forget. My condolences to all of his friends and family. Rudy was wonderful.
So glad that the last time we saw each other was greeted with a HUGE hug, as always! You were an inspiration to those of us who always pretended to want more. I am so happy you were able to meet my wife the last time we were together. I will always tell stories of our random adventures together. Wish you were here right now my friend.
The fondest memories of Rudy were the handful of times I gave him a ride when I saw him walking. Just a few minutes of one on one Rudy. I wonder how many people have these same memories as well. Probably more than you could count. This guy didn’t walk for long. RIP my friend.
Rudy was always fun to be around and one of our family from the old days at the Ross and Alhambra. Will always remember his kind nature and infectious smile. THANK YOU RUDY for your patience and integrity when dealing with people. Always humble and happy with what life gave him. Always true to himself and others. We could all learn that lesson. MISS YOU! Rudy , I am so humbled to have known such a hard working selfless being of light . the respect and bravado you carried around with you hard earned always greeted with a round of hugs , handshakes and warm smiles the essence of heartfelt respect and comradary followed you closer than your own shadow . Your soft spoken words often broken by your typewriter giggle I could always feel at ease around you like a brother .thank you for showing me the cards to life my love eternal .
You truly were one of a kind, my friend. You probably had no idea of the impact you had on my life at a critical juncture for me. I will never forget your kindness and encouragement. I always thought you’d always be around. I am so saddened by the news of your passing. I hope you and my sister enjoy reconnecting now that you’re both on the other side. Love you.
Rudy Guthrie, 51, passed away on January 15, 2019. He was born on July 21, 1967 to Andrew White and Mary Guthrie in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Rudy was an outgoing, peaceful, laid back man. Rudy worked as a chef for many different restaurants and for the Book Broker for many years. He loved to read and travel. He would hitchhike anywhere and everywhere. Rudy was very well known and loved by many in the community.
Rudy is survived by his siblings Earl Cunningham, Brant Guthrie, and Joslyn Green; his grandfather Benjamin Martin; two nieces; and several nephews.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents; his sister LaHoma Guthrie; and his grandmother Beatrice Martin.
A celebration of life will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 19th at Graceland Cemetery.
