    Roy you were not just my step dad i considered you my father. You always treated me as if i were your blood daughter. I will miss you every day. My boys have lost a huge part of their life. They love their papa with all their hearts. My mom was so blessed to have had you in her life. Being your wife was one of her greatest joys. You take care of Abby untill we all meet again. Love you your daughter Denise

Roy Wallace Baker, 75 of Boonville, IN, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 16, 2018 surrounded by his family after a long illness. Roy was born on December 4, 1943 in Mt. Vernon, Indiana to his parents the late Victor and Eunise (Ferguson) Baker.  

Roy was a United States Navy Veteran who worked in the ship yards prior to the Vietnam Conflict. He was a loving husband, father, friend, and pet owner. Roy was meticulous and used his hands to make clocks and birdhouses, often with his grandson.  When he completed a clock he would always say “My time is your time”. Roy was an auto mechanic by trade. Although Roy did not go to the horse track his favorite movie is “Secretariat”, which he would watch over and over.  

Roy is survived by his loving wife Gerrie Baker; children; Denise Strong, Jay Harralson, Peppar Connelly, and Patrick Baker; grandchildren Joshua Edward Strong and Jordan Isaiah Strong; brother Jeffery Baker; and several nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 9:00 AM, with entombment to follow at Graceland Cemetery and Memorial Park, 1800 St. George Rd., Valparaiso, Indiana 47711.  VFW Post 3418 from Warrick County will perform military honors.

Visitation is at 8:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday and also on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Graceland Cemetery from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers Roy’s wishes were for memorial contributions to go to The Warrick County Humane Society, 5722 S. Vann Rd., Newburgh, IN 47630 or at www.warrickhumanesociety.org in honor of his canine companion Abbey who preceded him in death just two weeks ago.
